IKO International Kettlebell Organization

IKO ranking tiers from highest to lowest: MSIC (Master of Sport International Class) — permanent, valid for life; MS (Master of Sport); CMS (Candidate Master of Sport); Rank I (Sport Rank 1); Rank II (Sport Rank 2); Rank III (Sport Rank 3). MSIC is achievable only at professional KB weights (32kg male / 24kg female).

IKLF International Kettlebell Lifting Federation

BOLT ranking tiers from lowest to highest: (1) Rank - entry-level achievement, (2) Semi Pro - intermediate level, (3) Pro - advanced level, (4) Pro Plus - elite-level achievement, (5) Elite - highest tier. This is completely different from the traditional MSIC/MS/CMS system used by most other kettlebell sport organizations.

The research data also shows Rank 2 and Rank 3 at lower kettlebell weights. Note: IKMF uses 'MSWC' instead of the 'MSIC' designation used by most other organizations.

Comparison Analysis

What All Organizations Agree On

  • All organizations use a progressive ranking system based on competition performance
  • Higher ranks require heavier kettlebells and more repetitions

Athlete Impact: Rankings earned under one organization are generally not transferable. An IUKL CMS is not automatically recognized by WKSF or IKO. Athletes competing across federations need to earn ranks separately under each system.
