Snatch must be performed in one continuous movement from backswing to overhead, without pausing or adding extra movements.
Snatch is consistently defined as swinging the kettlebell from below in one continuous motion to overhead fixation. Key differences are in hand change rules and double variants.
Exercise SNATCH must be performed in a single fluid motion. Athlete should lift the kettlebell without stopping at the fixing position over the head. Swing down and uphill can only be performed once.
Extra oscillation (double oscillation) is permitted after changing hands, before first fixing with the new hand.
At the moment of fixation, the arms, legs, and torso should be loose (straightened), and the kettlebell and the athlete must stop.
During snatch, contact between the free hand and the body, platform, or kettlebell results in a no-count for that repetition. The free hand must remain clear of all objects at all times.
In snatch (10-minute set), only one arm switch is allowed during the set. The switch can be made at any time. Switching sides can only be done with a single hand-to-hand swing.
In the 12-minute snatch, unlimited (free) hand changes are allowed.
A knee dip is allowed during the snatch to help get under the bell, with the same fixation standards as the jerk applying to the overhead position.
After fixation, the athlete must bring down the kettlebell to perform a new raise.

Extra swings between snatches (swinging without completing an overhead lockout) are a violation. Three violations of this type results in disqualification and no count for the entire set.
An initial/extra swing at the start of the snatch set is a violation. If the athlete performs one swing after the START command, the judge gives the CHANGE OF HAND command (warning). If the athlete ma...
If the snatch movement is performed using a press technique (pressing the bell overhead rather than a fluid snatch motion), the repetition receives a no-count.
